Hi friends! Earlier this month I was featured in one of my favorite publications, Vogue.com, alongside some other amazing experts to talk about how to pull off a surprise wedding. You can check out the full piece here, which gives you all the deets how you can completely catch your guests off guard by inviting them to a decoy event that actually ends up being your wedding!

Here are a few other tips if you’re planning on a surprise wedding:

  • Photo Ops – What better photo op than a surprise wedding? Make sure your photographer snaps pics of everyone’s shocked faces once they realize they’re at a wedding. You’ll have some really fun photos for your album!
  • Speech Alternatives – Many of your friends and family might be shy about giving a spontaneous toast or speech. Set up a station where guests can write out their advice and well wishes that you can later organize into a scrapbook of some sort. You get a similar sentiment without putting anyone on the spot.
  • Enhance the Surprise – If you’re holding your wedding at a venue that has a foyer area, have your guests mix and mingle in a short cocktail reception before they head off to the main room. When you greet them in the main room in your dress, it’ll make for an even better surprise.

No matter how you pull it off, both you and your guests will be in for an unforgettable evening!

Mindy
