Is That a Rose?

August 23rd, 2008

glameliaHi everyone! Have you ever wonder how they grow this enormous flower? They don’t! It is handmade! The florist starts with one single rose which is glued on a circular piece of styrofoam and then takes individual petals and hot glues them one by one to form one large flower. It is called a Glamelia (I think that is how to spell it :) ) and it is one of my favorite bouquets. Ask your florist if they have made one before…if not for your bouquet it looks great as a centerpiece or on cocktail tables.

I’m “Mad”den for these Sneakers

July 9th, 2008

If you haven’t heard yet usually your high heel beautiful wedding shoes will last about 3 hours max…at a wedding I coordinated a few weeks ago, the bride brought these shoes to change into…they had enough height so her dress didn’t

drag and they were fun enough for the photographer to snap photos of…

Sister Act

July 9th, 2008

kids-105.jpgSo I know I’m always writing about things I love about weddings but I wanted to introduce you to my most favorite girls (well besides my dogs) my sisters! My older sister Jaye the one on the right owns Intuition, a great store in West Los Angeles! Check out her website Shopintuition.com. My little sis is a stylist in Los Angeles. She has amazing style and can organize a closet to perfection! We love being together and all our children are really close…my nephew works for Vera Wang in Bridal Design…guess the bridal love runs in the family.

A Bouquet that Tickled me

July 7th, 2008

kids-003.jpgI just loved this bouquet. The bride gave the florist a picture of something she loved…(always great to tear out pictures you get inspiration from) The feathers are my favorite. It really is unique and yet not too overwhelming…the bride should be the focus and the bouquet like a piece of jewelry.

Setting the table

July 6th, 2008

jen-jayne-base-fathers-004.jpgThis bride wanted to add her theme color (black) to her placesetting. I found some black velvet ribbon at a flee market (I try to go every sunday) and just tied a knot around the napkin. The couple loved lily of the valley so we placed a sprig under the ribbon. We also included a menu with a design that we pulled off the invite and tucked it under the napkin. Simple and pretty and the couple loved it…..

A Rose is a Rose…

July 4th, 2008

rose headsThought this centerpiece was a great idea to help stay on a limited budget….all we did was cut the head of the rose off the stem and lined them up in a retangular glass container….(Pottery Barn had alot of them on sale) very little water needed…add some votives maybe 3 at each corner and you have a very chic design..will look great on cocktail tables…coffee tables and seating card tables…for something fun and a bit more casual you can use a different color rose on each table.

If you can’t cut um join them!

tree entranceHi All! Happy 4th of July! I took this picture of a wedding we just did where we had to actually put the tree branches inside the reception tent. There was no way to trim them back as the celebration was at a hotel. So we incorporated them inside the entrance tent…they looked awesome and it made an amazing entrance for the guests to enjoy….some obtacles become great decor!

Floral Tieback

June 18th, 2008

Here is another beautiful take of a floral tie or pullback….this is definately a finishing detail. Some budgets won’t allow for this detail . But I really think even a handful of beautiful ribbons would work wrappped around the fabric for an opening to another area, or just to see the gorgeous surroundings outside the tent. The one in the picture is a large bouquet, but just a couple of large flowers will work as well…floral tieback more to come tomorrow…Mindy

Curtain Call

June 18th, 2008

jen-jayne-base-fathers-012.jpgHi all…summer is here and everyone at MWPC are running around like busy bees! Weddings, anniversary parties, birthdays and lots of same sex marriage calls are pouring in! Los Angeles is  booming with celebrations! Thought I’d share a wedding where I mixed 2 different elements to pull back your fabric to make the tent appear like it is a large version of a “cabana”
