Sneaking Around!

At our last wedding the groom gave his guys personalized All Star Converse. So great! We lined them all up so after the ceremony the guys could change before they start dancing!

The best part was each of the guys names or nicknames on the back of the shoe. The groom wore a navy leather pair to match his navy suit.

GREAT IDEA

“I’m on the Wagon!”

June 22nd, 2009

dsc01953.JPG

Hi Friends, we had a wonderful wedding Friday night and I wanted to share a cute tip with you. I know you have seen the wagon idea a 100 times but….the couple has a 6 month old baby and this is how we got him down the aisle, in the wagon. But what I thought you all might want to know, if you are using a wagon (or some form of transportation for the little ones) is the great way to get the tiny ones to sit up comfortably..Marks Garden places a baby seat inside with the straps that secures them in.

dsc01949.JPG

The more secure they feel the better the chance of no crying and a successful picture!

Look how cute this wagon is! Elegant, not too blinged out…I love the finishing bow touch and especially the back of the wagon. As his cousin pulled, the little baby who rode the wagon came down  the aisle laughing! Oh sometimes I wish I was back sitting in a wagon being pulled around :)

June 15th, 2009

dsc01890.JPGHi, as most of you know my neice Syd is getting married in September. Last Saturday my sisters friends gave Syd a beautiful shower. I took some pictures to share with you.

It took place in a beautiful backyard that was filled with roses.

All the flowers they used for the centerpieces were from the garden

My best friend Janis was so excited to use the Mindy Weiss frosted glasses for Inviting Company….not because they are part of my collection but they really looked so cute!

On the invitation they requested that all the gifts be wrapped in Pink…all the gifts looked

Something we all had to laugh about right in the middle of present opening. The house behind us began cutting branches with a chain saw. This is something to think about when planning a party outside…drop your neighbor a nice note and ask if it would please be ok to refrain from gardening for the extent of the party….our caterers walked around the block and asked them to stop the trimming and we went back to present opening in no time.

So happy for Syd and Josh what a beautiful day

This “Bowl” is full of Treasures!

Well it is Sunday, the second Sunday. If I’m not working I wake all that will escort me to THE ROSE BOWL. I was lucky enough this morning to be joined by my husband, my son Jordan and his girlfriend Tali who is a “mini me” of myself. As we entered the gates Tali and I looked at each other and said together “Is your heart pounding?”

I know you junkies are out there know exactly what we mean. It is not only relaxing to look at all the old treasures but also so inspiring. I took some pictures of some vintage wedding items. I would buy them all but I have literally ran out of room…

I hope to start selling some of my treasures found, but need to build up a few more items before I post them on my e-store.

I treated Tali to a partial collection of some Harlequin Romances from the 60’s

We both loved the color combinations on the covers it really inspired me for some new color themes for future events.

If you are ever Los Angeles try to schedule a visit to the Rose Bowl

Oh MY Ojai!

A beautiful ceremony this weekend it began with this candle torchers. We were going to have each guest light one before they found their seat but it was too windy and it would of taken too long so we lit them all for the guests.dsc01852.JPGdsc01851.JPG

The wedding was at Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. What an amazing destination location! The bride wanted to create a ceremony design that didn’t fight with the lush green grounds that surrounded the area.

We used Bougainvillea and various moss and greens and some Orchids all florals in the orange, yellow and greens. It was warm, not overwhelming and most importantly the Bride and Groom loved it. They wanted the chairs  in a 3/4 circle which is great for all the guests to see the couple say “I Do.” We usually don’t go all the way around with the chairs because I find that when taking pictures you see all the guests behind the Bride and Groom.

dsc01850.JPGMy most favorite detail is one that the Bride came up with. She showed me a picture of some birdcages that she loved. I was so excited, they were vintage and rusty and I just knew right when I saw them I would hang them in the trees that were a centerpiece of the ceremony area.

The florist placed greens inside the cage ahhhhhh so charming!

Enjoy …it was a great wedding weekend, I’m going to take a nap xoxox Mindy

AT LAST! It’s back and we have plenty….the Mindy Weiss “I Do” for your shoe is in stock. This is by far one of my favorite items. It makes a fabulous picture, it works if you need something blue, and it is a little detail all will notice. $3.75 is a small investment for a huge impact :) oh and for an engagement or shower gift it will be a hit! Have a good weekend. Mindy

PS. Here is my Bride Ashley showing off the “I DO” for your Shoe that I gave her before she walked down the aisle.

You outta be in Pictures!

May 30th, 2009

pic1.JPGpic2.JPGpic3.JPGpic41.JPGHi Friends…planned a fun rehearsal dinner tonight. It took place in a barn, and everyone had a great time. The bride and groom made their own montage video from baby pics to current photos. Just in case they left someone out they asked us to make a board of various pictures and put on display. The barn had a chicken wire wall and it turned out to be the perfect item to hang pictures from….we bought mini cloths pins and displayed the pictures on this wall. The guests loved it, especially the bride and grooms peers. This is a great solution if you are worried about leaving any of your family and friends out of the video (just to make it short and sweet)  Enjoy! Mindy

This takes “the Cake”

May 28th, 2009

smalley-3.jpgI just love vintage wedding photos. Especially if your parents are still married you can put their “cake cutting” picture on your cake table. It will not only get your guests over to view your beautiful cake but it is so much fun to see what your parents looked like at their wedding. If your parents are too nervous to give you their pics just color copy and frame them in your chosen colors.  Hey it will be a “Cake Walk” :) xox Mindy

Calling all Callas

May 17th, 2009

                             koral-callas-015.jpgkoral-callas-017.jpgkoral-callas-016.jpg

Hi, sometimes we have a bride or groom who have visions of a design in their head. They ask us to take their visions and make it reality. One couple wanted me to design Calla Lily lighting fixtures. Their drawing (on a little torn piece of paper) of what they would like, took me days to envision. Working together with my florist and lighting designer we came up with Calla Lily Chandeliers. (Remember if you are trying this yourself, it is important to find bulbs that do not give off a lot of heat or they will burn your flowers.) Enjoy they loved them….off to the New york Stationery Show…I’m going to be there on Monday in the Inviting Company Booth introducing 100 more designs of wedding and entertaining invites and paper goods….very excited…I will also try to find some new items and finds to post on the blog. xoxox Mindy

PS…I can’t figure out how to make my pictures larger on the blog but if you click on them they are easier to see.
