A Rose is a Rose…
Thought this centerpiece was a great idea to help stay on a limited budget….all we did was cut the head of the rose off the stem and lined them up in a retangular glass container….(Pottery Barn had alot of them on sale) very little water needed…add some votives maybe 3 at each corner and you have a very chic design..will look great on cocktail tables…coffee tables and seating card tables…for something fun and a bit more casual you can use a different color rose on each table.
If you can’t cut um join them!
Hi All! Happy 4th of July! I took this picture of a wedding we just did where we had to actually put the tree branches inside the reception tent. There was no way to trim them back as the celebration was at a hotel. So we incorporated them inside the entrance tent…they looked awesome and it made an amazing entrance for the guests to enjoy….some obtacles become great decor!
Floral Tieback
Here is another beautiful take of a floral tie or pullback….this is definately a finishing detail. Some budgets won’t allow for this detail . But I really think even a handful of beautiful ribbons would work wrappped around the fabric for an opening to another area, or just to see the gorgeous surroundings outside the tent. The one in the picture is a large bouquet, but just a couple of large flowers will work as well…
more to come tomorrow…Mindy
Curtain Call
Hi all…summer is here and everyone at MWPC are running around like busy bees! Weddings, anniversary parties, birthdays and lots of same sex marriage calls are pouring in! Los Angeles is booming with celebrations! Thought I’d share a wedding where I mixed 2 different elements to pull back your fabric to make the tent appear like it is a large version of a “cabana”
A “Light” idea that’s Crystal Clear
Hi…I had a bride who really loved the idea of having chandeliers in her reception area. We couldn’t hang them in the dinner area over the tables as she had dreamt of, but, I really wanted her to have them somewhere in her wedding…since the tent was an open structure we found sturdy trees to hang several chandeliers around the perimeter of the tent…we draped the tent like window openings with the light hanging in between the openings….it had a wonderful look and the bride was thrilled….
Keeping “warm” with a simple detail
Hi….now i know it is a small detail but just wanted to share one idea that may get right by you…..The weather channel may tell you it’s going to be warm in the evening but you find out the day before your outside wedding reception.. that the warm night is going to be low 60’s….(don’t laugh but in the west coast that is cold!) You have to order ugly heaters from your rental company and put them in the most beautiful garden that you have taken a year to design ….but keeping your guests comfortable is an important part of a sucessful event. You don’t want your guests to first talk about how cold your wedding was but how warm it felt inside and out….so if you have to order heaters have your rental company cover them in velon. It comes in all different colors…there are even some rental companies that have special heater covers…just ask you might be surprised!
On a budget …No need for flowers on the bar
Hi…I liked the way my caterer displayed the lemons and limes this past weekend. They brought an Oversized Martini Glass (if you google them there are alot of different prices for the glass available) then filled it with cut lemons and limes for the drinks. Such a simple idea but look how great it looked…and it doesn’t take up too much room on the bar!
Love the look of this Drink
Hi All! Made a great drink Saturday night that was a big hit “Marry Me” Mojito Champagne. Very easy! Fill glass 1/4 full with Monin Mojito Mix and Lime Juice. Then add champagne (doesn’t need to be an expensive one!) we found 2 bottles of Korbel for $16.99! Mint leaves complete the look…ahhhhh delicious.
Modern Bride Trendsetter Awards 2008
My good friends Ellen Black and Sol Lehr were awarded one of Modern Brides 25 Trendsetters Last week in New York for their amazing custom invitations! Trista Sutter (Remember the Pink Wedding?) and myself were there to present their award…Can you believe Ellen and I are not sisters… people think we look alike!
Sol looks like he is in the Mafia but he is the sweetest guy ever! …Trista is beautiful and always has a smile! She and Ryan are so excited that their son Max will be turning one in August!
One more show Pic
Here are cute favor boxes I liked because of the scalloped edge…they come in so many modern colors too by B.T. Elements
