April 28th, 2008

houston-002.jpgHi Everyone! Been on the road and finally coming to the end of the book tour (going south in october) last stop Chicago. Just want to tell you about a very special store I visited in Bellevue, WA…I have been to so many precious stores (if you haven’t heard I’m a shopoholic) but I just love this store called Common Folk Co. Ran by the darling shop owner Kathryn Straub and her talented staff. The store is a fantasy of unique items displayed with vintage style and amazing taste. From unique jewelry, to great wedding items to beautiful candles and so much more…I could of walked around for hours and still found something new tucked in every corner…so if you are in the Seattle area don’t miss this little jewel of a shop! “Shoe” Love is True Love

April 19th, 2008

Not sure if you all know that I am a shoe nut….but I admit it! Thought I’d share with you 3 shoes in 3 different price ranges that really work well for all types of wedding gowns. My brides have each worn at least one of these pairs of shoes and they lasted close to 5 hours without throwing them under their table…As you know no wedding shoes can be worn all night without burning, blisters or just plain pulsating all night. If you have worn or heard about a pair of wedding shoes that is comfortable let me know PLEASE…happy feet make for a less cranky bride :)

The first pair is from David’s Bridal and is under $70, it is dyeble (great to wear after the wedding)  and has nice cushion sole.called Marrisa

Second pair is by Stuart Weitzman. He is known to have the most comfortable shoes for the bride. This pair is under $265.00…called Lingerie

This is a ”Splurge” pair of Bridal Shoes by Jimmy Choo $450+ it is a favorite and because of the platform seems to be more comfortable…called “Macy”

Book TourHi All,

Well i’m in New York on the first leg of my First ever Book Tour. In case you didn’t know I wrote a Book…The Wedding Book, The Big Book for Your Big Day. Took about 4 years to write …and i hope you find that a lot of love and thought went into each page. I hope Liz (my co-writer) and I have touched on every little and big question you  may have. I hope this book can be your companion throughout all your wedding planning and i hope you feel like i’m right there with you! Check out news and events on mindyweiss.com to see if i’m visiting a city near you. I’d love to meet you and sign a book too. If not, I will sign one of the books that is available on my website just for you or for a gift….Stay tune for more adventures from the tour…Mindy

Aisle that will make you Smile

April 12th, 2008

aisle styleHi All…I’m a week late in sharing this beautiful aisle treatment with you. Remember the cute black and white welcome bag…this is the same wedding with the black and white theme. I love how Mark from Mark’s Garden added this damask trim to the white aisle runner. Details are what you and your guests will remember…so whether it is a trim of fabric or petals or feathers or rhinestones add a detail because this will be the best walk of your life ….

Impress your Out of Town Guest

April 5th, 2008

Love the “Out Of Town Bag” we are using this weekend! For some that don’t know what this means…The out of town bag (doesn’t have to be a bag) is the container you can use for goodies that you welcome your guests with who have traveled to join the bride and groom. I’m always trying to find unique ways to hold the treats.

This cool bag not only matches the couple’s black and white color theme, but it is a recycled and reusable grocery bag and or just a great tote. This is one container that won’t be left in the hotel room. Easy to fold and pack and weighs hardly nothing! You can find awesome “Green” bags on line and I have seen really cute ones at places like Ikea and Cost Plus.

Tip: don’t buy a bag or container that is too big because it will take a lot of products to fill it and this will add money to your ever growing budget.

Seating Card Line-Up

April 1st, 2008

I just love sharing things with you…thought i would post all the time but life gets in the way sooooo here are some things i was thinking about this weekend at a wedding I coordinated in Brentwood, California. I was placing the seating cards on the table and was wondering how would everyone know the easiest way to put the cards out without running out of room on the table, or having to re-do the rows 10 times so they end up even and in nice straight rows. Why such a big deal you ask? Well when i started in the business sometimes i would be standing at the seating card table putting the cards out and then re-doing them for an hour… So here are my tips for setting up your seating card table…

1.first count how many cards you have

2.figure out how many rows will fit on the table. You do this by placing a single row of your seating cards going across the length of your table. Take that number (for instance 15 went across the table) and divide the number of seating cards by 15 and then you will know how many cards go in each row.

3. Make sure you put the practice cards back in you pile alphabetical. Oh did I mention they must be alphabetical by last name?

4. Start with your first row and match all following rows to that first row. That way it will look all straight and even.

5. Most importantly YOU should not be doing this job! Assign someone very responsible to this task because YOU will be getting all beautiful for your hubby to be.
