Fashion Trends & Great Finds

Don’t you just love award season? It feels like every other day we get to see our favorite celebs dressed in their finest, sparkling with diamonds, and posing for the cameras. As fun as it is to watch the awards ceremony, it’s really all about those red carpet fashion moments! It’s also a great time for brides to get inspired. After all, you want to feel like a starlet when you take center stage at your wedding. So why not take your cue from Hollywood? This year I have already spotted lots of red carpet fashion trends that translate well into bridal.

So without further ado, here are the nominees for best wedding-worthy fashion…

Puff sleeves. If there’s been one trend to dominate the red carpets this year, it’s voluminous puffed up sleeves. For example, Jodie Comer, Dakota Fanning, and Cate Blanchett all wore dramatic puffs to the Golden Globes. We’ve seen statement sleeves making an impact on the bridal runways too. (Off-the-shoulder puff sleeves were a key look at the Fall 2020 shows.) This look is a great way to add drama or romance to a classic design. No wonder it’s a new red carpet fave!

Shades of pink. Big pink dresses were a hit at last year’s Oscars. Now they’re back on the red carpet and better than ever! The dresses have come in all versions of the color, from Priyanka’s bright pink off-the-shoulder gown at the Golden Globes to Logan Browning’s beautiful blush ruffles at the SAGs. Pink dresses are also nothing new to bridal either. However, if this year’s award season is anything to go by, maybe we’ll be seeing more brides opting for brighter shades of pink this year.

Slinky silhouettes. If there was one gown that could go straight from the runway to the aisle, it was Jennifer Aniston’s chic white silk dress at the SAG Awards. But she wasn’t the only one to pull off this slinky silhouette. Other standouts include Dua Lipa at the Grammys and Saoirse Ronan at the Golden Globes. It’s a look that’s super glamorous without being fussy, which makes it perfect for a modern bride too.

Exaggerated bows. Oversize bows were another trend I picked out at the Fall 2020 Bridal shows. So I wasn’t surprised to see them making waves on the red carpet this year. Jennifer Lopez in Valentino is perhaps the most memorable, but I also loved Scarlett Johansson’s red Vera Wang number with a dramatic bow on the back.

Old Hollywood. I always love to see the red carpet fashion trends that pay tribute to the stars of yesteryear. At the recent award shows, there was lots of Old Hollywood glamour to go around. For example, elegant black off-the-shoulder gowns, red lips, and glamorous accessories. At the Grammy’s, Lizzo wore a strapless Atelier Versace gown with a white faux fur stole that looked amazing, while Zoe Kravitz sported beautiful white opera gloves at the SAGs.

I also have to give an honorable mention to Ariana Grande’s grey tulle ballgown at the Grammy’s. Perfect for a princess bride and in such a gorgeous color!

I can’t wait to see what red carpet fashion trends the Oscars will bring, can you?

xoxo,
