What a great weekend in New York!
The Wedding Experience has begun. Before the beautiful brunch on Sunday Jordan’s dad and I took our new family and the Los Angeles gang out to an amazing dinner in Dyker Heights, (Brooklyn)
Just when you think you have experienced some great service in our industry you meet someone who proves that there is more to learn. Let me tell you about SAL from Mama Rao’s Cucina Italiana in Brooklyn. I planned the entire dinner over the phone. When I arrive Sal surprised me with beautiful flowers down the table and a gorgeous cake, …I didn’t order any of it and he said “this is the way we do things!” I love that! By the end of the night Sal knew everyones name , 23 of us!
We all had a great time
I must admit that as I got up to give a toast it really hit me that I was the mother of the groom! I swear I just gave birth to Jordan! After all the times I have seen moms get up to give a toast and then there I was toasting my son and his future wife and our new family the Kwellers!
Sal asked us for a picture of the couple and he again surprised us with this cute menu
grandma and me
I do have to tell you how I did mess up one thing…even a party planner makes mistakes for herself! Tali’s family are vegetarians as well as my husband Robert. I completely forgot to tell Sal and when we arrived the buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes were surrounded by prosciutto. When I arrived Jordan gave me a look of “Mom there is a problem on the table!” I quickly told Sal and he was on it! For some of you that may not have experienced a vegetarian having meat on their plate … it is best that it is fixed fast!
