Wedding Inspiration from Downton Abbey

I. Love. Downton. Abbey. I was so excited to see the new theatrical release! Have you seen the film yet? If you’re a fan of the show, you’ll love it; it checks all of the boxes. All of my favorite characters are back and they fulfilled all my fashion and dinner party dreams, once again. In honor of some of the best on screen ladies and gents, I thought I’d share a little wedding inspiration from Downton Abbey throughout the years.

Lady Mary’s first wedding look has the royal sleeved style. Sleeves are very popular with clients of mine today, though the style has evolved. Often sleeves are sheer with a bit more revealing or even plunging neckline or back. However, those subtle nods to the past are ever present.

Lady Rose’s beaded sheath dress is fitting of a modern day Jenny Packham gown and oh so chic. Her long gloves may not be in vogue today but the gown and headpiece could go down any aisle this season.

Lady Mary had not one, but two weddings in the series and in the second, she donned a hat. From cowboy hats to floral-clad caps, this is something I’m starting to see more of, especially for after party looks or wedding weekend attire.

Will you take any wedding inspiration from Downton Abbey for your big day? What will you be wearing?
