In anticipation of bridal fashion week coming up in New York, I’ve been thinking about what we might see down the runway. Thanks to the royals, the clean look with less beading and sparkle will still be in, as will those hot after party suits, rompers and jumpsuits. But here are three wedding dress trends I’ve been enjoying this summer…and hope to see more of in the coming collections!
Sexy backs. When you walk down the aisle, stand at the altar and spin on the dance floor, the entire bridal look, front to back matters. I love a gown designer that pays as much attention to the back of the dress as the front. This is a time when a beautifully sexy back is certainly in style! Whether the dress is low in the back, laced up the sides of your curves or sheer in fabric, a low back is a look I don’t see fading anytime soon. These stunning sexy backs are by couture designer, Galia Lahav.
Color and pattern. A lot of my brides are opting for colors other than white for their wedding dresses. Blush, baby blue, silver, even bold colors like red are going down the aisle this year. The rules have changed, you no longer have to wear white! Even a pattern, a floral motif or design is stylish – in white or any color of your choosing. I love the nod to individuality it gives a bride. These subtly colorful styles are by designer, Hayley Paige.
Simply royal. Simple chic is still in style thanks to the royal family. Sleeves, light lace and gowns with beautiful structure but not a lot of beading are timeless classics. So many of my clients love these looks. Even if the wedding isn’t traditional, it doesn’t mean the gown can’t be. But these work especially well if you’re tying the knot in a church or temple. These sleek styles by Amsale make great ceremony looks before you change for the reception or after party.
These three wedding dress trends are some of my favorites this season. But I can’t wait to see what the designers debut in the fall! What will you be wearing on your big day?
xoxo,
