3 Fabulous Disney-inspired Kids Birthday Party Themes

Do you have a birthday party coming up for one of your kids or grandkids? If so, there’s a good chance that they have some strong opinions on what the theme should be. Children love to choose their own birthday party themes. It allows them to get involved in the creative process of planning the party. Although some of their ideas come seemingly out of nowhere, children will usually choose a theme from the things they love most like a favorite film or TV show. So it’s no surprise that Disney characters and movies have been rich sources of inspiration for generations and that Disney-inspired kids birthday party themes continue to be popular.

Recently, my granddaughter asked for her birthday party to be themed around Isabela from Encanto. It was so much fun bringing this Disney party theme to life, with bright colors and flowers, churros, and ice cream! If your little ones haven’t stopped singing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” then this is a great option for the next birthday!

Here are 3 popular Disney-inspired kids birthday party themes to consider.

Encanto Birthday Party Theme

Encanto might be one of the most recent Disney films, but it’s already gaining in popularity as a party theme. The key is to embrace a rainbow of bold, joyful color. Use balloons, flowers, paper butterflies, and bright linens to make it pop. As guests arrive at your casita, have them enter through a ‘magic door’. Inside, you could set up a bounce house or ball pit for the kids to enjoy, as well as a piñata. You could have an Isabela flower hair bar or have the kids make tissue paper flowers and garlands. Don’t forget to ask the guests to dress up like their favorite character. A colorful candy bar is also a must!

Frozen Party Theme

Ever since Frozen hit cinemas, it’s been a huge favorite with kids. With Frozen 2’s release that popularity has just continued. If your little Anna, Elsa or Kristoff can’t ‘let it go’, then why not create a winter wonderland party scene for their next birthday? Use a cool-toned palette of blue, white, silver, and purple, with balloons arches and streamers instead of snow and ice. Decorate with snowflakes, snow globes, and character cutouts, and have the kids make ‘snow’ or decorate wands as an activity. You can also create an elaborate Frozen dessert table, with Olaf marshmallows, snowflake sugar cookies, jello ‘ice cubes’, sugar powder donuts, and an ice castle cake. If the party is held in summer, you could serve snow cones, or have a hot cocoa bar in winter.

Cars Party Theme

Ka-Chow! Disney Pixar’s Cars makes for a fantastic theme for a party and allows you to get creative with retro auto motifs. Start with a palette of Lightning McQueen red along with black and white checks, inspired by the checkered racing flag. Serve ‘50s-inspired diner foods like burgers, fries, and root beers. Kids can ‘fuel up’ at a beverage or dessert station. Treats could include traffic light brownies, chocolate donut tire stacks, and character-themed cupcakes. Decorate with Radiator Springs road signs and cactus cutouts. If the party will be held in your backyard, you could set up an obstacle course for the kids to run around, with barrels, cones, tires, and more. You could also have the kids decorate their own foam or wood racing car toy to take home. Another fun option is to set up an outdoor ‘drive in’ movie screen. You could even decorate boxes to look like cars for the guests to sit in as they watch the film.

Of course, these are just 3 of the many Disney-inspired kids party themes you could have. There are so many more! Whether you opt for a newer story, a classic like Aristocats or Cinderella, or even a more general Disneyland or Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme, there are lots of ideas to be found!
