Hello Kitty Themed Kid’s Party

I love planning parties for my family! This year, Alma asked for a Hello Kitty themed birthday and I was more than happy to oblige. Hello Kitty, with her iconic bow and friendly demeanor, has been captivating children (and adults) for decades! Here’s how you can create a magical Hello Kitty themed birthday party that will leave any child and their friends delighted.

Invitations and Decorations

Whether you choose electronic invites or printed ones to send in the mail, you’ll want to opt for adorable Hello Kitty themed invites that set the tone for the party. Think pink and white with cute designs of Hello Kitty herself or her friends (like My Melody and Pompompurin). These can be easily found online or you can unleash your creativity and make them yourself for a personalized touch.

When it comes to decorations, think pink! Hello Kitty’s signature color palette of soft pinks and whites should dominate. Balloons, streamers, and tablecloths in these colors will instantly transform your party space. I included small vases with pink and white flowers. If you can find them, sprinkle in some Hello Kitty themed plates, cups, and napkins to tie everything together.

Activities and Games

For entertainment, plan activities that resonate with the theme. Set up a crafting station where kids can decorate their own Hello Kitty masks or headbands with bows. I set up a Hello Kitty themed painting corner to keep the little ones engaged and creative.

No birthday party is complete without games! Adapt classic party games to fit the theme. How about a playful twist of “Pin the Bow on Hello Kitty” game? You can also organize a treasure hunt with clues hidden around the house or garden, leading to Hello Kitty themed prizes.

Hello Kitty Inspired Treats

The highlight of any party is undoubtedly the food. Embrace the theme with Hello Kitty inspired treats that will have the kids smiling from ear to ear. Serve sandwiches cut into the shape of Hello Kitty’s face using a cookie cutter. Cupcakes with pink frosting and edible bow decorations are sure to be a hit. For a healthy option, arrange a fruit platter with strawberries (Hello Kitty’s favorite fruit) and other colorful treats.

And of course, what’s a birthday party without a cake? Go all out with a Hello Kitty themed cake featuring her iconic face or a figurine on top. Your local bakery can often customize cakes to match your chosen theme perfectly. For Alma’s party, our lovely Tali made this incredible masterpiece of a cake, complete with Hello Kitty candles!

Favors and Memories

As the party winds down, send the kids home with adorable Hello Kitty themed party favors. Consider items like mini plush Hello Kitties, stickers, or even personalized thank you cards. Pottery Barn Teen has a charming new Hello Kitty collection featuring some really adorable items that are definitely worth checking out!

Lastly, capture the memories! Hire a photographer or designate a friend to take photos throughout the day. The wonderful John & Joseph took these pictures that will not only serve as keepsakes, but also make great thank-you cards to share with guests!

Hosting a Hello Kitty themed birthday party is a chance to bring to life the whimsical charm of this beloved character. By incorporating these ideas, you can create a celebration that your child and their friends will cherish for years to come. Remember, the key to a successful party lies in the joy and laughter shared by all, and with Hello Kitty leading the way, it’s sure to be purr-fectly delightful!

xoxo,

Mindy
