How to Ask: “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?”

You’ve got the ring – now it’s your turn to pop the question to your best girls and ask them to be your bridesmaids! Being in the wedding party is a big deal – a real commitment of time, money and energy. Your ladies will be there for you through all the joy and stress of wedding planning – and through your marriage. The bridesmaid ‘proposal’ is a great opportunity to spoil these special women and show them how much they mean to you. Here are some thoughtful ideas for asking: “will you be my bridesmaid?”

Write them a card. A heartfelt card is a simple but meaningful way to ask. It also makes a special keepsake. Etsy has many lovely options for bridesmaid proposal cards, for example. Or for an even more personalized touch, why not craft your own?

Create a bridesmaid proposal box. A treasure box of thoughtfully selected goodies is such a fun gift for a friend to receive! Choose small gifts that reflect your friend’s tastes and interests, memories you’ve shared, and spoils like chocolates or a pretty candle. Also, be sure to include things that will be useful in her role as a bridesmaid (and beyond), like my favorite Rollasole flats.

Get a mani/pedi. Invite your bridesmaid(s) to join you for a pampering manicure, and then present each of them with a pretty makeup bag or leather pouch that has ‘bridesmaid’ printed on it. Pop a bottle of polish inside for them to wear on the wedding day.

Throw a luncheon. Gathering all your girls together for a brunch, lunch or dinner is a lovely way to get the group acquainted. Place a note at each place setting along with a fun trinket like these diamond wedding pens.

Make a photo album. For a beautifully sentimental gift, create an album for her with pictures of the two of you from throughout your friendship. Leave an open space on the last page, and place a card with your wedding date and ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’ on it. She can later replace it with a picture from the wedding to complete the album.

A hidden surprise. Invite each woman over for a cup of coffee, and give them a special mug with a secret message at the bottom. When she finishes the cup, she’ll see the question!

Say it with jewelry. Give your girls a special bracelet or necklace to wear. Or, if they’re already flush with accessories, a custom jewelry box with their name on it. Also, don’t forget to add some jewelry cleaner!

However you choose to pop the question, it’s bound to be a special moment that you’ll both remember forever. It doesn’t have to cost a lot to count!

Happy asking!

xoxo,

Mindy
