There are pros and cons to hosting an unplugged wedding (meaning no phones and no photos). To get some insight into my thoughts on hosting an unplugged wedding, check out my post here. That being said, if you’ve already decided on sharing your wedding socially and including a hashtag on the big day then be sure to share that information with your guests too!

Let your loved ones know that this isn’t an unplugged wedding by including your hashtag in several touch points and encourage guests to post and follow along during your wedding planning process too.

Where to share your wedding hashtag?

On your save-the-date! Post as soon as you’ve got your hashtag determined and encourage guests to do the same. Start from the save-the-date cards. You can share small hints on the hashtag feed about what’s to come, documenting your planning along the way and letting others get excited along with you.

On your wedding website! Any additional wedding information should always go on your personalized wedding website. That means mention and share your wedding hashtag here too!

At your ceremony entrance. If you aren’t discouraging ceremony photos, then encourage the sharing. Include a welcome sign complete with your wedding hashtag or a sign that simply showcases the hashtag somewhere near the entrance.

On your bar. If you’re serving up specialty cocktails or have custom bar menus made, consider plugging your hashtag here too.

On your favor tags. Tag your sweet treats at the end of the evening with love and thanks from the both of you and wrap it all up with your wedding hashtag.

If you’ve opted to make your wedding a social celebration, be sure to express that in several spots so you and your love with have plenty to review and relive on your honeymoon!
