PartySlate Event (and Wedding Inspiration)

I recently had the pleasure of attending a kickoff party in Los Angeles for my friends at PartySlate. They collect and house incredible amounts of event and wedding inspiration for couples and party hosts to search and see what’s out there for their event. If you’re looking for event or wedding inspiration online, I suggest you start there. With all those ideas banked on their website, it’s natural that PartySlate would bring some of those ideas to life — in a party right here in my hometown! The event took place at the Kimpton La Peer Hotel, in a tent on the rooftop. One of my regular go-to artists, Calligraphy Katrina hand scripted each guest name on a candle box to act as the place card and Auroral Floral created these beautiful centerpieces.

Destination weddings:

Destination weddings aren’t always more affordable! We need to entertain guests for days at a time. Typically that can mean a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, and post-brunch for all the guests. That’s a lot of parties! Then you add in the cost of travel and you really need to consider the budget before booking away from home.

Flower Trends:

Instead of a lot of flowers, I’m actually using a lot of greens. Couples are asking for more greenery with just a touch of floral instead of a room filled with flowers like in the past. Leaves mixed with candles and even candles wrapped in leaves are very popular with my clients this season.

I’m also creating fewer ceiling treatments with flowers or greens. I think that look has had it’s peak. Twinkle lights are back and I love that. The look is so romantic (and affordable too).

Biggest Event Moment:

This one was an easy topic to discuss (it always is). If you know me, you know family is everything to me. Family weddings are always the biggest moment (for anyone, I think). My biggest event moment was my son’s wedding day (and getting to help plan along the way). Since then, my granddaughters’ birthday parties are a close second.
