Summer Wedding Guest Outfit Ideas

Wedding boom summer is already in full swing, so chances are that your mailbox is full of invites for warm weather celebrations through Labor Day and beyond. Which brings with it another problem – what to wear to all those weddings? Along with basics like dress code and location, a good summer wedding guest outfit needs to be weather-appropriate so you feel cool and comfortable all day long. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are a must, especially if the venue is outdoors. Fortunately, there are plenty of on-trend looks that can easily double up as inspired summer wedding guest outfit ideas. Each of these will suit a variety of styles and also make you look and feel amazing! Here are 7 of my favorite styles of the moment that I think would make a perfect summer wedding guest outfit.

Sunshine yellow. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the red carpet recently, then you will have seen more and more stars showing up to events in monochrome yellow gowns. From buttery pastels to bright neons, yellow is simply the happiest color to wear to a wedding (or anywhere!). Even the Duchess of Cambridge jumped on the trend at the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. The key is to find the right yellow to suit your skin tone and wear it with confidence!

Slip dresses. There’s no doubt that this classic ’90s silhouette is having a major moment right now. Slip dresses are perfect for summer weddings. They can be dressed up or down depending on the dress code, and are super flattering and light.

Cutouts. Flirty cutouts were one of my picks for spring wedding guest outfit ideas and their popularity just continues to grow. Make sure to choose a design that doesn’t show too much skin but instead just a subdued hint of what’s beneath. Bonus points for being easy to wear in the summer heat!

Long and loose. If you’re heading to a beach wedding this summer, opt for a maxi dress that’s light, flowy, and forgiving. Whether you choose a summery bright or a pretty floral print, this look is all about the draping and fabric and is perfect for those casual beachy vibes.

Polka dot prints. If you like the idea of a print but want to avoid the floral and butterfly prints that are all over the place this season, choose polka dots instead. The look for 2022 is all about black and white polka dots, both big and dramatic or small and subtle.

Colored suits. If a dress isn’t your thing, go for a pantsuit, skirt suit, or separates in one of summer’s trending shades like Kelly Green or Fuschia. (As long as it’s not white.)

Fringes. I’m seeing fringes everywhere at the moment. A fringed dress is such a fun option for a wedding, especially for the dance floor. But if it feels like a bit too much, choose a fringed accessory like a bag or pair of earrings.

No matter where your summer wedding schedule takes you, these wedding guest outfit ideas will ensure you look divine.

Here’s to a summer full of stylish weddings!

xoxo,
Mindy
