Throwing a Garden Party (via Martha Stewart Living)

Hi friends! Spring is finally upon us so I talked to Martha Stewart Living recently about a popular spring and summer phenomenon…garden parties! I love outdoor garden events because you can amp them up for something as formal as a wedding or dress things down for a casual barbecue. You can find the full article here with tips from many other great experts, but here are my top three:

  • Making sure your guests are comfortable should be the top priority. Whether that’s with heat lamps, shaded areas, umbrellas, tents, etc. your guests should be relaxed and not uncomfortable with the climate. Ensure there’s adequate access to restrooms, water and other essentials.
  • Keep winds and heat in mind when thinking about décor. Centerpiece décor should be weighted down and, in cases of extreme heat, think about using tough, heartier flowers or succulents.
  • Always have a rain plan. Trust me, even the summer months aren’t safe. If you’re having the party at home, you can always move things indoors. For other outdoor spaces, keep a close eye on the weather and be prepared to rent a tent or move locations entirely.

Happy spring!
