Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022

5 Trends from Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022

October saw the triumphant return of Bridal Fashion Week to New York – the last two having been entirely virtual. How exciting to see the designers return to the runways – both in-person and virtually! The Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022 collections were a celebration of fashion past, present, and future, with both classic silhouettes and bold embellishments. In other words, there was something for everyone, whatever your bridal style! But even with so much wonderful variety, there were a few clear breakthrough trends. So, straight from the catwalks, here are my pick of the five top trends from the Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022 shows!

Corsetry. Bridgerton fans, rejoice! Corsets were all over the Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022 collections. They took the form of both exposed boning and gowns with corseted bodices. This beautiful structural element is super flattering but fortunately also a lot more comfortable than in Regency times. Dramatic and sexy while still being classic, this is the perfect look for a modern-day Daphne. Inbal Dror, Ines Di Santo, Galia Lahav, and Houghton were just three of the designers who made this look their own.

Cut-out details. A more recent historical fashion throwback, cut-outs brought a touch of Y2K fashion to the runways with a bridal twist. Cut-outs could be found all over the place, from midriff-baring beauties to subtle slits creating statement backs. Look out for chic cut-outs from the Lihi Hod, PatBO, Francesca Miranda, and Katherine Tash collections, amongst others.

High-low dresses. There were lots of mini and shorter dresses on the runways this season, which makes sense with brides needing some extra flexible alternatives for intimate weddings, minimonies, sequel celebrations. etc. If you love the mini look but want some length as well, the high-low gowns that were a trend at Bridal Fashion Week are another solution. It’s a bold, fashion-forward look that is incredible with the right person to carry it off. The high-low gowns at Marchesa Notte and Anne Barge are especially worth a mention!

Flexible pieces. Bridal designers have embraced the bridal trousseau – a more versatile collection of pieces that you can wear more than once and style for different wedding events. From separates like tops and skirts to toppers like jackets and capes, I loved seeing all these non-traditional alternatives. They also work well for a second look at the after party! And you might even be able to repurpose part of your bridal wardrobe after the big day.

Square necklines. Off-the-shoulder and sweetheart necklines have recently had their moment to shine again, and halternecks continue to be a popular choice. However, this season the big news was square necklines. Halfpenny London, Caroline Castigliano, Wtoo, and Theia were some of the designers who made this detail super chic. They work with both sleeveless and sleeved styles and are a great way to show off an heirloom or statement necklace.

Which of these Bridal Fashion Week Fall 2022 trends appeal to you the most?
