Fall 2021 Wedding Trends

Summer may still be in full swing, but fall is right around the corner. And that means cozy nights by the fire, autumn foliage, and pumpkin spice everything! It also means lots of fall weddings, since September and October are the new most popular months to get married. I’m all for enhancing the seasonal mood, but that doesn’t mean you have to choose the same old fall wedding ideas. In fact, there are lots of ways to lean into the autumnal feels without going the obvious route. Ready to be inspired? Here are some great fall 2021 wedding trends to spark ideas for your own celebration.

Outdoor weddings. There’s a huge trend for outdoor weddings in 2021 and that won’t change, even as the weather cools. From garden fetes to tented celebrations, the open air is the place to be. And with Mother Nature really showing off in the fall, there’s less work to do when it comes to décor. Create a feeling of coziness with lots and lots of twinkly lights and plush lounge furnishings. And, to ensure your guests are comfortable, set up a welcome table with coffee and blankets or wraps, to fight off any chills.

Bold fall color palettes. Another overarching wedding trend for 2021 is the use of eye-catching color. For fall that means rich sapphires, Burgundy reds, and emerald greens, as well as earth tones like sienna, amber, and brass. Marigold yellow is another exciting option – pair it with warm ochre or dusty mauve for a look that’s seasonal but bright and unexpected.

Seasonal suits. Speaking of color, one place we’ll definitely be seeing it is in groomswear! Think perfectly tailored suits in jewel box shades like rust, scarlet, teal, or aubergine. If you don’t want to wear a full color-blocked suit, a velvet jacket in one of these shades is a stylish and seasonally appropriate alternative.

Dried flower installations. Dried flowers have made a big splash in wedding florals over the past couple of years, and we’ll continue to see them among the fall 2021 wedding trends. Preserved baby’s breath in particular is back in a big way. But don’t expect arrangements to be subtle. Florists are pushing out the boat with extravagant, showstopping arrangements that incorporate both fresh and dried florals elements.

Miniature pies. 2021 is the year of the individual wedding cake, with on-trend couples opting to serve their guests tiny versions of the traditional tiered dessert. So why not translate this idea into a fall-themed wedding? Pies are a great alternative to wedding cakes and they’re easy to serve up in individual servings – plus, they’re adorable! Another fun option that fits into the seasonal vibe is mini bundt cakes.

I’m loving these fall 2021 wedding trends – don’t you agree? Will you be incorporating any of them in your wedding day?

xoxo,
Mindy
