Sneaking Around!

June 30th, 2009

dsc02003.JPG

At our last wedding the groom gave his guys personalized All Star Converse. So great! We lined them all up so after the ceremony the guys could change before they start dancing!

dsc02004.JPGdsc02001.JPG

The best part was each of the guys names or nicknames on the back of the shoe. The groom wore a navy leather pair to match his navy suit.

Go to www.converse.com to make your own …yes for the bride too and what a cute bridesmaids gift!

GREAT IDEA

I Thought I was prepared but…

Every weekend as I have said before I learn something…I have been doing this a LONG time and I’m always open to become better and learn as much as my shrinking brain can handle.

 dsc01999.JPG

This weekend my client hired a fabulous company  “Visual Therapy” that handled styling for the Bride, Mom and Wedding Party.

Now me and my staff always bring an emergency kit and a suitcase filled with “Just in Cases” but this team packed it all up and put it all out! I took pics because if I listed everything you would go to someone else’s blog :)

dsc02000.JPG

Take notes as you look at the pics …there is way too much stuff but if you scale it down and think of the gals and what they may need…jolly ranchers are great because being a little nervous before the ceremony makes mouths dry.

I kept sneaking them (watermelon my fav) because I was starving …LOL

The Gals that Lunch

June 26th, 2009

dsc01962.JPG

Hi Friends…We have been hired to do several luncheons this summer…This birthday luncheon was in the clients garden, June in Los Angeles and it rained that day.

dsc01961.JPG

So we moved the tables under an awning and got large market umbrellas. It was misting for an hour and then the sun peaked out….funny because when it was raining, all the guests were saying “oh it’s cold” so when turned the heaters on the sun started coming out..

dsc01968.JPG

dsc01967.JPG

and then all the guests starting saying “oh it’s so warm” …we always have to be ready

for all elements! Remember to find out the honorees favorite treats. We used a crystal bowl filled from our clients home (a little too big) with pastels mints the birthday girls most favorite… Then at the end of the day we can make EVERYONE happy…

dsc01963.JPG dsc01966.JPG

The party favors were these linen tissue packets for a ladies purse…”Happy Tears, Happy Years. ”

Enjoy the pictures, enjoy your weekend and enjoy life… as we learned the last few days life is short …RIP Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and lets not forget Ed McMann too!

Oh follow me on twitter @MindyWeiss kinda really getting into it…

A Cake Topper to “Die For”

June 23rd, 2009

Hi friends…don’t know if you saw on twitter that I had to run out the day of the wedding to complete a last minute dream request from the bride that she would love “Day of the Dead” Bride and Groom figures for her wedding cake. Our wedding was at The Grand Del Mar http://www.thegranddelmar.com/ FANTASTIC by the way, but I plan to write a whole blog on the hotel! Well Paige Levy (amazing wedding manager at the hotel!) said “I know where you can go” she put me in a car and off I went to Encinitas with a big hope that I could find these treasures! I just would hate coming back empty handed!

dsc01955.JPG

Jackpot! I found this fantastic large happy couple, too big to put on the cake…

but wanted to find an option if the bride didn’t want to put them on the table so I found baby ones too to for the cake topper.

dsc01956.JPG

I got back to the hotel like a proud peacock, went right to the brides room and she wanted all of them yeah…and I loved how it looked. It personalized the wedding and pulled all the quests toward the cake to see what was going on! Her Toasting glasses were the ever popular Swarovski  Crystal Champagne Flutes and she used the Mindy Weiss Cake Knife Set to tie all the bling together… thought I would take a pic of that too :) Enjoy

“I’m on the Wagon!”

June 22nd, 2009

dsc01953.JPG

Hi Friends, we had a wonderful wedding Friday night and I wanted to share a cute tip with you. I know you have seen the wagon idea a 100 times but….the couple has a 6 month old baby and this is how we got him down the aisle, in the wagon. But what I thought you all might want to know, if you are using a wagon (or some form of transportation for the little ones) is the great way to get the tiny ones to sit up comfortably..Marks Garden places a baby seat inside with the straps that secures them in.

dsc01949.JPG

The more secure they feel the better the chance of no crying and a successful picture!

Look how cute this wagon is! Elegant, not too blinged out…I love the finishing bow touch and especially the back of the wagon. As his cousin pulled, the little baby who rode the wagon came down  the aisle laughing! Oh sometimes I wish I was back sitting in a wagon being pulled around :)

White Trash

June 20th, 2009

trash-the-dress-2.jpgHi! Had a meeting last week with a Bride. We were talking about her Wedding Gown (sounds amazing!) and she said “I’m going to get a second dress to trash”

I said, “Excuse me?” Well she went on to explain to me that she was going to David’s Bridal to buy a simple inexpensive dress so she can jump in the pool with her second wedding gown  for a great picture. She continued to say that her fiance will jump in with her in his suit!

I love that….I haven’t had a bride yet that has done that…do you think after they jump I should follow them in? :)

Found some pictures on Google of the JUMP…

A Polished Look

June 18th, 2009

Hi, I was with a bride the other day and she was trying out different nail polish for her hands and feet to wear at her wedding. It’s funny because I haven’t had a bride who was so concerned with the color. So I asked questions to my nail expert bride on what she has found…

She loves these 2 brands ESSIE and OPI

She says the texture is smooth, not too thick and drys without streaks.

She also comments that she thinks both companies have excellent base and top coat

and super dry top coat. One great suggestion, try these products on your nails, like you would try new make-up and facial products before the wedding. The nail hardening products are very different than base and top coat. They actually burn my nails after applying so check that out too. It is not a great idea to have your nails and toes done the day of the wedding….some of the great pictures involves close-up of your hands and lately toes too!

Here are some suggested colorsfiji.jpgFIJI (MY FAV)

LOVIE DOVIE

   i-pink-i-love-you.jpg

I PINK I LOVE YOU

no-room-for-the-blues.jpgNO ROOM FOR THE BLUES

GREAT FOR YOUR TOES… (NOT YOUR FINGERS) …..FOR SOMETHING BLUE :)

Now of course you do not have to wear PINK these are just some favorites of my Bride.

French white tip manicures are popular …but this is another way to personalize your style if you want something different go for it but just remember in 20 years your kids may ask why you had rhinestones on your nails? xoxox Mindy

Shower for Syd

June 15th, 2009

dsc01890.JPGHi, as most of you know my neice Syd is getting married in September. Last Saturday my sisters friends gave Syd a beautiful shower. I took some pictures to share with you.

It took place in a beautiful backyard that was filled with roses.

All the flowers they used for the centerpieces were from the garden

dsc01880.JPGdsc01882.JPGdsc01884.JPGdsc01885.JPGdsc01888.JPG

My best friend Janis was so excited to use the Mindy Weiss frosted glasses for Inviting Company….not because they are part of my collection but they really looked so cute!

dsc01889.JPGdsc01891.JPG

On the invitation they requested that all the gifts be wrapped in Pink…all the gifts looked

so beautiful     dsc01878.JPG

dsc01879.JPG

Syd made a wonderful welcome and thank you speech good to know she is

reading my bookdsc01896.JPG

Something we all had to laugh about right in the middle of present opening. The house behind us began cutting branches with a chain saw. This is something to think about when planning a party outside…drop your neighbor a nice note and ask if it would please be ok to refrain from gardening for the extent of the party….our caterers walked around the block and asked them to stop the trimming and we went back to present opening in no time.

So happy for Syd and Josh what a beautiful day
